The door people see first

A composite door is built in layers: a solid core for strength and insulation, wrapped in a tough, coloured outer skin that won’t rot, warp or need painting. It looks and feels like a timber door, with the low upkeep of uPVC.

The duck egg blue door in the photo, the black door with glazed side panels and the green door with the long bar handle are all ours. You can see them in our work, or pick a colour on the home page.

Choosing your door

There are thousands of possible combinations, which can be daunting. We bring samples and brochures to the survey and help you narrow it down. The main choices are:

  • Style. Solid, cottage, contemporary with long glazed slots, or traditional panels.
  • Colour. Anthracite grey, black, green, duck egg blue, light grey and white are all on our recent jobs. Many doors can be a different colour inside.
  • Glass. Clear, obscure or decorative, with bevels and leaded designs.
  • Furniture. Lever handles or a full-height bar handle, letterplates, knockers, spyholes and house numbers.
  • Frame. White, matching the door colour, or matching your windows.
  • Side panels and toplights. Glazed panels beside or above the door bring daylight into a dark hall.

Security

A composite door is only as secure as its lock. Ours close onto multi-point locking, with hooks and bolts engaging along the full height of the frame, and anti-snap cylinders that resist the most common method of break-in. Ask us at the survey about the security ratings of the door you choose.

Warmer and quieter

The solid core and modern seals stop the draughts that whistle round an old door, and cut down traffic noise. A new front door is one of the quickest ways to make a cold hallway comfortable.

Fitting

A single front door is often fitted in a day. We take out the old door and frame, fit the new frame square and level, hang and adjust the door so it closes sweetly, then seal and trim it inside and out. You’ll get your keys, a FENSA certificate and a HomePro insurance-backed guarantee.

Common questions

Can’t see your question? Call 07733 408235 and ask.

Are composite doors better than uPVC doors?

Composite doors are thicker, heavier and more solid, with a more realistic finish, and they cost more. uPVC doors are lighter and more affordable, and work well as back doors. We’re happy to quote for both.

How long does a composite door take to arrive?

Composite doors are made to order after the survey, so there’s a lead time. It varies with the manufacturer and the time of year, and we’ll tell you when we quote.

Can I have a different colour inside?

On many doors, yes. White inside with a colour outside is a common choice, so the door suits your hallway.

Do you fit composite back doors too?

Yes. Any composite style can be fitted as a back or side door.
